Thank you to all the Male veterans for your support of the event again in 2017. For those of you who were here, it was an exciting climax to the league, with Bucks, Beds and Northants all in contention going into the last day.
I am delighted that Leicestershire have already confirmed they would like to enter a Men’s team for next season, and I have also been told that Oxfordshire are interested – if anyone has the right contact name and email address/telephone number for them I would be grateful for it. It makes for a great event next year!
There was some excellent tennis played on Saturday, which saw Beds win against Warks, and Northants beat Bucks. Cambridgeshire had already completed their matches. With the way the matches panned out, it meant we had a three way tie for first place with number of matches won (3), so a count back of sets revealed that Beds were third on 19-14, Bucks were second on 21-11, but winning the title for the second time in three years were Northants on 23-10. Captain, Brian Perry and the team were presented with the trophy and Corby Tennis Centre court towels and water bottles by Centre Manager, Craig Haworth.
Thank you all again for making the effort to run the teams, and I shall be back in touch during the summer to get next years event organised.
Good luck to you all in your respective veterans tennis this summer,
Craig
