Junior Tennis Coaching

At the DCTP we offer a range of coaching opportunities for players of all ages and abilities.

We have recently changed our policy on booking onto courses. If you have attended a course previously please check your email for a payment request from clubspark. You are automatically rebooked onto the course.

As we hold coaching at a number of coaches and venues we have split our sessions into the following categories.

RacquetTots - 3-5yrs

For children aged between 3–5 years who will be introduced to the game of tennis through generic ball skills. These will include; balance, movement, co-ordination and general dexterity exercises introduced through fun games and skills exercises.

Aimed at children 3-5yrs old, it’s a great opportunity for you to spend some time with your child doing activities. Parents are actively encouraged to join in the session so they can directly contribute to your child’s development and learning whilst sharing the experience of playing something you enjoy! The parent and child will work together so that they can then practice the skills away from the session to improve.

Mini Tennis - 5-10yrs

We follows the LTA's 'Mini Tennis' guidelines using their couloured stages. These are as follows;

Mini Red- Mini Tennis Red is for players aged 8 and under. It is played on small courts with short rackets and soft balls. Sessions will cover basic co-ordination, racket and ball skills and various fun games. The emphasis is very much on FUN while developing basic sending and receiving skills to start rallying.

Mini Orange- Mini Tennis Orange is a great way for players to continue their progress from mini red and is for players aged 8 and 9. It is played with shorter rackets, softer balls and courts are bigger and wider than the red stage but still smaller than full-size tennis courts allowing players to develop a rounded game whilst learning a range of techniques and tactics. It is the next stage before playing on a full sized court and helps players develop different shots.

Mini Green- Mini Tennis Green is a great way for players aged 9 and 10 to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Orange. It is played on a full size tennis court, with bigger rackets and balls which are a little softer than yellow balls. It’s the next stage before moving on to full compression yellow balls on a full sized court and helps players develop and improve all aspects of their game. Sessions are limited to 10 players due to court restrictions.

Junior Tennis - 10-18yrs

Our Junior programme runs based on age groups alongside the LTA’s age group guidance, from 12 & Under though to 18 & Under. We have mixed abilities within all of our groups to give every child the oppertunity to play. We also run a handful of advanced classes for players who wish to take their tennis further and compete in sanctioned tournaments. Our sessions are plit into 4 age groups and are below;

Yellow & Blue Squad- Designed for beginner to intermediate level players ages 10-14. , Booking onto this course requires immediate payment and will secure a place.
