Norfolk Junior Girls U-11's

The Norfolk Junior Girls Under 11s team emerged victorious at the prestigious lntercounty Squash Championships in Sheffield.

The team showcased exceptional skill and determination, securing the championship title in a thrilling final match against Yorkshire:

Norfolk - represented by Ada Brown (East Anglia Tennis & Squash Club/UEA Sportspark), Lorelei Elvin (Ipswich Sports Club) and Maya Johnson (East Anglia Tennis & Squash Club) - are the first Norfolk junior team to win an inter-county title this century. The only previous win by Norfolk's Under 19 Boys back in 1978, and featuring Richard Millman who went on to· become the US national coach.

The Norfolk Junior Girls' journey to the title was marked by several impressive victories, including crucial narrow wins against their two main title rivals, Surrey and Yorkshire, with Maya Johnson showing great inner strength to clinch both of these matches via tie-breaks.

The championships is a highly competitive event that attracts the best junior players from across the country.

Winning this title is a significant milestone for the Norfolk team, with the hope that victory will attract new junior players into the game, enabling Norfolk Squash to grow and develop their junior squash programs.
