Community Tennis Box

As you can imagine we go through a LOT of tennis balls! Post covid we were exploring new ways in which we could recycle our used tennis balls. In August 2021 our Centre Manager Viki was having a conversation with our Director of HR Hilary, and so the story begins. Hilary started taking the balls to dog shows and selling them to raise money for charity. On the first show we generated £125.00 for the Flatcoat retriever society.

The idea evolved into producing boxes which could be placed in and around Norfolk for the local community to enjoy. With the tennis centre being part of a large and inclusive college we set to work on speaking with our construction team to see if they could help. Thankfully they agreed and the students along with the help and support of their lecturers Trevor and David produced 10 beautifully crafted boxes.

We were then looking to have the boxes stained so they would withstand the elements. We approached our inclusive learning team to see if they would like to get involved. They were all too happy to help and Karen and Kirsty along with their students made a start with getting the boxes all painted up.

We then approached our marketing team to get their advice on how we could get the text required on the boxes and Andrew gave some fantastic advice and support. Hannah our graphic designer did a wonderful job of making our vison for the graphics come to life and produced the artwork you see now.

We then called upon our construction team again to put the finishing touches and secure the artwork to the finished box.

Now in May 2022 we are delighted to announce we have sited our first two boxes. The first at the rec in Harling and the second in Pretty Corner Sheringham.
