Hartlepool Tennis Coach Smashing It!

Vicky Evans who coaches at Eldon Grove Tennis Club has been named as Runner-Up in the prestigious Lawn Tennis Association National Awards for Development Coach of the Year. There are nearly 6,000 LTA Accredited Coaches in Britain and the award recognises exceptional contributions to grassroots and development tennis. Prior to being in the National final, Vicky had come through both the County and Regional rounds and was representing the North in the final. There were over 500 nominations in the awards category.

All of the National winners and runners-up are being presented with their Awards at the National Tennis Centre in London on the 28th June and are then heading over to Wimbledon to watch the days play on Centre Court.

Vicky works as an LTA Schools Tutor and has trained lots of teachers to deliver fun and exciting tennis activity to their pupils. Vicky is also She Rallies Ambassador for the North East which aims to get more women and girls into tennis as both players and coaches. Vicky has trained up many Brownie and Guide Leaders to work with the girls within their packs. Vicky and Eldon Grove Tennis Club have fantastic links with local groups including Pathways to Independence and Hartlepool Sportability Club. Vicky is always looking to engage with new groups and welcome them to the club so please get in touch if you are interested.

Vicky said “The Award was a lovely surprise. I was so honoured to be representing the North as I know there are so many fantastic tennis coaches working in the Region. I am so fortunate to have a job that I love and to work with so many amazing children and adults from our town on a daily basis who all help make my job so enjoyable.”

Vicky runs many daytime and evening sessions throughout the week at Eldon Grove Tennis Club. The sessions cater for children from the age of 4 upwards all the way through to Walking Tennis for players who want a more gentle version of the game.
