Upcoming events for new and returning members

 

With the new tennis season upon us, we would like to extend a very warm welcome to new and returning members.

This is a short email update to make members aware of the some of the things going on at the club over the coming weeks and months.

Forthcoming events

American Tournament / Coffee & cake Sunday 19th May 9:30 start

A round-robin type mixed tournament - the format mixes abilities so the emphasis is on joining in and enjoying some friendly, competitive tennis. If you're new to the club it would be great to welcome you to this event either on court, or just come along to say hello over coffee and cake.

Summer knock-out tournament late May to September

Mens / ladies singles and doubles, and mixed doubles knock out tournament running from later in May until September. In the doubles competitions players are allocated partners at random. Invitation email to come separately from David Gray shortly.

Humphries Cup 30th June 9:30 start

A new event for the club - a one-day knock-out mixed doubles tournament (enter as a doubles pair, round-robin in the morning, knock-out finals in the afternoon). Reserve the date - more details to follow by separate email.

General reminders

- Open drop-in social tennis sessions are Tuesday 5-7 p.m.; Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.

- By-invitation drop-in tennis for stronger players Tuesdays 7-9 p.m.

- George Ross our Head Coach is running a diverse coaching programme, including Rusty Racquets on Monday evenings, Thursday mornings ladies/mens doubles play, and a very busy juniors programme.

- If you wish to play in any Weald League teams (mens/ladies/mixed doubles), contact the team captains, or any committee member (all details are on the website).

- We hope you are finding the new clubhouse cleaning arrangements are a big improvement. Please straighten things up after you have used the clubhouse, including doing your washing up. Please collect any clothing or equipment left in the clubhouse as there is a periodic charity-shop purge.
