Doubles box league rules:

  • One match to be played with new divisions updated every month
  • There are 4 players in each division (some divisions might have 3 regular +1 guest player, see below rule nr.4)
  • Players will have numbers allocated according to the rating in the division. Any of the 4 players can take responsibility for organising the match.
  • Guest player rule - the player who is unable to play must be the one to find a substitute for that month. In most situations if you are guested for you will be relegated 1 division for the subsequent month.
  • Order of play:

Players 1&4 Vs players 2&3

Players 1&3 Vs players 2&4

Players 1&2 Vs players 3&4

  • Match format – 1 full set with each partner, 3 sets in total. Normal sets, standard tie-break at 6:6. Results - the player with the most points wins the division/promotion, the player with the least games is relegated.
  • If 2 players have the same points at the end of the match – there will be 2 additional championship tie-breaks (first to 10 points) with each of the remaining players. For example:

Player 1 – 18 points

Player 2 – 14 points

Player 3 – 10 points

Player 4 – 10 points

2 championship tie-breaks to be played to decide who finished 4th

Players 1&3 Vs players 2&4

Players 1&4 Vs players 2&3

If 3 players have the same points at the end of the match - the same rule applies, but with 3 championship tie-breaks to decide final positions.

  • Result of the match to be posted on relevant Whatsapp group with all the scores including the tie-breaks.
  • If a division doesn't play, in normal circumstances nobody will be promoted and Matt will decide on a relegated player if any. In exceptional circumstances, a player can be promoted.
  • Promotions and relegations can vary, if more players join or leave the box league. There might be a situation where 3rd placed player will be relegated too.
  • If you cannot play in one month but plan to continue playing in the next round they can be guested, in normal circumstances this will lead to relegation to the division below. This may vary from time to time if players drop out for varying reasons.
  • New players joining the league might find themselves 1-2 divisions lower than they are expected to be.
  • If you leave midway during a set, regardless of the score at the time your score for that set will be recorded as 0.
