Rules:
Match Format:
This is to be decided by the players involved in the match. Three options
1. Best of 3 sets (sets played are first to 6)
2. Fast 4 Format (killer deuces and Champ TB 3rd set)
3. One set first to 8 games (tiebreak at 7-7)
Challenges
Players can challenge up by a maximum of three places. If the players above you are on holiday/already challenged then you can extend to 4 places!
At any one time, player can have two challenges. One up and also a challenge from a lower player.
If the challenger wins the match they will move one place above their opponent.
If the challenged player wins there will be no changes.
You cannot challenge the same player twice in a row. Please wait for a lower challenge first. After a period of 1 month has elapsed you can rechallenge the player.
Action upon Accepting a challenge:
Players must accept a challenge unless the above rule applies.
Players must respond to a challenge within 48hrs and offer 2 alternative dates for a match within the next 3 weeks period. If a player cannot offer 2 dates, he/she can concede or if both agree - challenge can be withdrawn.
Challenger may claim a walkover win if a player is unable to offer to play the match in the next three weeks (don’t abuse this rule).
If challenger has been offered 2 dates but cannot accept them and no alternative date agreed, challenge deemed to be failed.
Failure to respond may result in a walkover win for the challenger.
Challenger to supply tennis balls for the match.
Injuries
If a player becomes injured, for the first month they will maintain their ladder positions. Players can skip past them when challenging (they do not count as part of the 2 up rule).
After 1 month, if the player is still injured and unable to partake in the ladder. They will be temporarily removed from the ladder. Upon rejoining they will given another Wildcard Challenge.
Wildcard Challenges:
Any new players joining the ladder will be placed at the bottom of the ladder. They will have one wildcard challenge available which allows to challenge any player ranked below 5th place. 6th place being the highest!!
Challenges and results are to be posted on the Singles Ladder WhatsApp group.
Club’s website with current singles rankings will be kept updated as frequent as possible.
May the new ladder commence, until 31st May 2024.
Good luck!
