The day was split into ‘Plate Finals’ for those that were knocked out in the first rounds. With a record number of entrants (over 65), there were still rounds to win even to get to the Plate Finals. The winner of the men’s singles was Simon McInnes; the men’s doubles Mark Reardon and John Stone, and in the mixed doubles Lizzie Brightwell and Alex Porter.
The main tournament had a highly awaited men’s single final, Joe Lampon versus the assistant Grove coach Callum Forsyth. It was an excellent match with Joe coming out as the eventual winner after 3 hard fought sets. The ladies singles final was won by Becs Osman again after a real 3 set battle with Clare Flynn. Ladies doubles winners were Clare Jackson and Sally Harris, the men’s doubles Joe Lampon (again) playing with Louis Temblett. The final game was the mixed doubles which was won by Clare Jackson and Stuart Shepard.
The day was watch by over 50 people, with 8 finals and was complemented by an excellent hog roast by Gordon Bell and team. Our thanks to all that made it a very memorable day. Special thanks to Adrian Holley, who organized the event.
