Organisation and format for Hackness & Scarborough Tennis Club 

End of Season Tournament 2025 

Adults and Juniors 

 

  • The tournament will be organised over a two week period commencing Monday 1st to Saturday 13th September, 2025 

  • Finals day will be on Saturday 13th September starting at 11.00am. It is hoped both spectators and players will contribute food to an end of season feast at this time.  Sunday 14thth September will be a reserve date in case of bad weather. A schedule will be arranged for the day. 

  • Each match, up to but excluding the semi finals and finals, will be one set with tie break at 6 – all. Semi Finals and Finals will be best of three sets with a third set being a ten point Championship tie break. The older and accomplished juniors are encouraged to enter the main adult draw as well as entering the junior tournament. 

  • All first round losers in each event will go into a reverse draw and play in the consolation tournament if numbers permit. 

  • All competitors need to register with Jim Mellor by texting him on 07969822849. If you want to play in any of the doubles events and don’t have a partner then let Jim know and he will try and arrange. Please provide Jim with a contact phone number. 

  • All competitors will need to be available on the day/ nights below for their first round matches. However, if there are extenuating circumstances which prevent this, every effort will be made to accommodate you.

Wednesday 3rd September from 5pm 

Mixed doubles 

Thursday 4th September from 5pm 

Reserve date for any 1st round matches not completed 

Friday 5th September 

 

  • All subsequent matches will then need to be played by the deadlines stipulated on the draw sheet. 

  • First named player on the draw sheet to arrange initial contact. Contact Jim if you need a contact number. 

  • Players are expected to supply their own tennis balls or use the club balls in the pavilion. New balls will be provided for the finals. 

  • Club nights may be suspended during this period to accommodate the tournament matches, or at least they will take priority over other club night matches. 

  • Closing date for entries is Sunday 31st August. 

  • Presentation night. Date and Venue TBC
