Update 11 June 2020

Dear Members

We hope you are keeping well and safe during this time.

For many of you the last few weeks have provided the opportunity to get back on court and enjoy some tennis. As the lockdown conditions continue to ease we wanted to share a club update with you on the current guidelines on returning to play.

COURT USAGE
Both singles and doubles can be played with people outside your household whilst keeping 2 metres apart when possible.
The 10 minute buffer period is still to be observed between bookings.
Please read the booking confirmation email which will advise of any changes to booking rules.
Please bring your own hand sanitiser.
Please wash your hands before and after visiting the club
Only travel with people from your household
Please do not visit the club if you feel unwell, are isolating or have any symptoms that could suggest Coronavirus.

PROGRAMMING
Following the latest guidance from the LTA preparations are underway to restart the group coaching program in the coming weeks with a reduced capacity (max 5 players per class Adult/Junior). Due to the lockdown in March our initial launch of programming will be to accommodate the two weeks of lessons missed at the end of the spring term. All participants have received separate communications and we will be confirming the start date shortly. For anybody new that is interested in our group coaching session we will be launching a shorter summer term program after this initial return. If you would like to receive more information on this please email admin@huntingdontennis.org.uk

COURT MAINTENANCE
We are excited to announce that the club will be carrying out an extensive work project on the outdoor courts over the coming weeks. The aim of the project is to carry out rejuvenation work to maximise the playability of the surface and will be completed in two phases. The initial phase has begun this week with the courts being heavily treated for moss and now back open for play. During this time the court surface may appear to discolour but this is to be expected as part of the treatment. It is important that all players continue to wash their hands following play during this period due to the treatment on the surface and contact with balls, this is also as part of following current social distancing measures.
The final phase is due for completion between 6th – 9th July. The courts will be closed during this period and we apologise now for any disruption to play but look forward to being able to welcome you back onto an improved surface. Reminder communications will be sent out over the coming weeks of the closure period.

CLUBHOUSE/DOME REOPENING
We are continuing to follow the government and LTA guidelines on return to play and at this stage the clubhouse and indoor courts will remain closed. There will be a provision made for accessing the toilet during the periods that the coaching program is reintroduced. We will keep you updated on any changes to the guidelines and look forward to making the indoor courts/clubhouse available for use as soon as safely possible.

COACHING TEAM
We are very sad to be saying goodbye to club coach Michael King during this period. Michael has been part of the club for many years coming through as a promising junior and developing into an engaging coach for many tennis players in the program. I am sure you will all join us in wishing  Michael the very best with his new coaching role and we look forward to being able to share in a more social fair well send off when lockdown conditions end.

If you would like any further information regarding the above updates or have any other queries relating to the club please do not hesitate to email us at admin@huntingdontennis.org.uk or visit our website which we are updating with news.  https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/HuntingdonTennisClub
