Tough win for Men's B at Boughton

Under clear skies, on a pleasant autumnal evening, the B team played their first away match of the winter season, coming away with a gruelling 3 - 1 win.  The first two rubbers were both over in two sets, with Cuthbertson and Packer winning with relative ease and Roberts and Swinson-Davis failing to get their racquets back early enough and slipping to defeat.  As the evening in the walled confines of the Boughton courts ebbed away, the second rubbers looked to be going well in the first sets with both pairs winning reasonably comfortably, inspired by the uplifting good luck messages from their captain; unfortunately, both lost their second sets leading to tense final sets.  With both pairs flagging, they dug in to see off their oppostion and grind out the wins needed.  Spirits were lifted and then soared with the provision of a fine late supper, homecooked soup and Victoria sponge.  Cuthbertson then whizzed off to prepare his lessons for the following day's inspections and Packer in search of more food.
