For our next social event, we have planned a gentle paddle along the River Wye from Kerne Bridge to Symonds Yat on Saturday 15th September.
An 11am start at Symonds Yat is planned when we would meet the canoe hire company and receive safety instructions, afterwhich we are then taken with the canoes by mini-bus up the river. It's then an approximate 5 hour paddle back to our cars, with a stop along the way for lunch (bring your own).
It is expected that the cost will be in the region on £20-£25 per person but this will depend on the number of boats we end up with. Parking is charged at £5 per vehicle.
We are limited to 10 boats of 3 and spaces will be given on a first come, first served basis. Two people can paddle at a time and one can spectate, but there are places on the bank to swap around. The boats include a sealed plastic barrel for storing your personal items (phones/keys etc).

The hire company's terms and conditions are listed below:
- Participants under 18 will be supervised at all times, each canoe must have at least 1 adult (18+).
- Any participant 13 years of age or younger will be supervised by an adult on a ratio of 1:1.
- All participants will wear a fastened and correctly fitted buoyancy aid at all times.
- All participants can swim a distance of 25m in clothing, or to be accompanied 1 to 1 with a swimmer who can.
- No person under 4 years of age or under 15kgs will be carried.
- No person with a chest measurement greater than 54 inches and no person over 130kgs (20stone) will be carried.
- No person under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be carried. Alcohol will not be consumed in a canoe.
- All participants with any physical, medical, behavioural or mental condition or illness have informed us using our medical declaration form prior to the trip.
- All participants affected by sight or hearing impairment likely to affect safety have informed us using our medical declaration form prior to the trip.
- You accept that we may cancel or curtail your booking or exclude individuals in your party who fail to comply with the above conditions.
