Ladies A played their first match of the winter season against Hallow A on Sunday 7th October in glorious sunshine!

After two years in Division 3West they returned to Division 4West but are very keen to gain promotion again.

Charlotte U and Jo played as first pair and won their first set 7-5 and after narrowly losing the second one 5-7 were able to take the third 6-4. Kate and Charlotte B also played a a three set rubber winning the first set 6-3 after being 0-3 down, but unfortunately lost  the next ones 4-6, 4-6.

With the score at one rubber each every game mattered for our next matches. Charlotte U and Jo played really well to beat Hallow’s second pair 6-1 6-4. Kate and Charlotte B lost their first set 2-6 and were 2-5 down in the second. Knowing that the games score was important they managed to win four games in a row for a 6-5 lead but Hallow took the next game. Unfortunately it was not to be in the tie-break and although Kate and Charlotte took the lead they were unable to sustain the pressure and lost the set.

At 2 rubbers and 5 sets each the final result went down to games with Kempsey winning 52 and Hallow 49, going to show how every game is important! 

A well - deserved picnic, relaxing in the sun was enjoyed after 3hours of tennis! 

The next Ladies A match is at Ledbury on 11th November.
