22 people braved the blazing sun with temperatures around the 30 degree mark to play in the Strawberry Tea Tournament on 29th June with others spectating to add to the very social atmosphere. The format of just 5 games and changing partners worked well in the heat. It was great to see some new faces at the tournament, of all ages, including one player who only joined the club this week! Refreshments were extremely welcome and a super tea with scones, cakes and strawberries was served after play had finished. Huge thanks to Sue Diggins, Elizabeth Evans and others who provided the scones and cakes and to Chris Hardingham for sourcing the excellent strawberries. Jeremy Reed brought Pimms for all. Thanks to Sue Marszal and Martin Weaver for organising the tennis. The winners were Mike Fahie-Wilson and Jill Taylor who each won a fabulous fruit hamper although Mike kindly gave his hamper to Harry Norman's friend Henry who was the runner-up.
