July monthly message from Club Chairman

Dear MLTC members

It’s a particular pleasure to contact you during Wimbledon fortnight. Always a highlight for tennis fans. I wonder how many of you have managed to get hold of tickets?

Here is the monthly message from Club Chair, Paul Maguire:

“Last month we mentioned the Junior Tournaments on 10 & 17 July and we are looking forward to seeing the juniors enjoying some competitive tennis! We are also looking to run a “Mixed Up Doubles” event for adult members, where names are drawn out of a hat and you play with the chosen random partner. More to follow.

Please note also that Mark Franklin, our Lead Coach, has published the details of the Summer Camps 2021 for juniors, a vital opportunity for all our young players to benefit from extended periods of play after such a long period of restrictions. Places are available at all sessions, Monday-Friday, for the four weeks from 19 July to 13 August. The camps are open to all, members and non-members, in the 5-16 age group. If you would like a copy of Mark’s flyer simply reply to this email.

Thinking of competitive tennis - Wimbledon tickets went on general sale and some members have been lucky to get tickets. Next year Wimbledon will return to a ballot process, where tickets are allocated to clubs, and we can then sell allocated tickets to members. When you joined, you were offered the opportunity to register with the LTA and, if you did not, then please consider registering. This may well increase our Wimbledon allocation, which will benefit the Club. The more registered, the more allocated tickets!

As always, if you would like to raise any matter regarding the Club, do please reply to this email or talk to one of your Committee Members”.

Best wishes, Kevin
