114th club AGM in the rain!

Sunday 4 July was AGM day. This is a chance for members to raise any concerns about how the club is being run and to find out what developments are planned.

As a result of the Covid -19 pandemic It was the first AGM for over two years. The meetings are normally held annually, in April so that decisions about the new season, such as membership rates, can be ratified by the membership.

Sunday 4 July was selected for the 114th meeting so as to be after the original June 21 opening-up date but, as we all know, that date was put back. Consequently the meeting had to be held outdoors with no more than 30 people in attendance.

Fortunately most members must be happy with the way the club is managed. Either that or they were put off by the dreadful weather forecast. As the picture below shows umbrellas were definitely needed.

However, enough members did turn up for a quorum. The key decisions made were:

  • Accounts for year ended 31 October 2020 approved;
  • Membership rates at 20% discount ratified;
  • Amendment to the club’s visitor policy approved. This removes the maximum three visits and the provision to deduct visitors fees received from membership fees if a visitor goes on to join the club to allow for the new Pay & Play option .
  • Ratification of Board members and officers who had been co-opted onto the management board during the pandemic – namely Simon Ramsey as Club Secretary, Bex Tomlinson as Club Treasurer, Jan Parkin as Match Secretary along with Rachael Harby and Joe Troman as board members
  • Re-election to the Board of Ian Taylor and Helen Riby who’s three-year terms of office had come to an end.

Chairman Sharon Cox-Smith thanked the Board members who had stepped down since the last meeting for all their hard work, namely Andrea Simmons, Teresa Smith and Pete Warrington.
