Macmillan event raises £750

The Club's special three-day event in aid of  Macmillan Cancer Support raiosed a magnificainet £750.

Member Dr Chris Payne, pictured below,  came up wth the idea and supported by Social Secretary Simon Mason organised the event. Simon commented: “We had a fantastic response from our members who actively participated in ensuring it was an enjoyable event with a positive outcome to show our support for the great work of Macmillan Cancer Support.”

The three-day event was open to members and the local community from 30 September through to 2 October 2022. It started on Friday with a Macmillan coffee morning, tea/coffee with home-made cakes and cookies as well as the chance to play our pro-tennis player Gareth Griffiths. The day finished with a special Macmillan ‘High Tea’ and raffle, prizes included coaching lessons, a tennis racket, theatre tickets and much more… …from perfume to wine!

We continued over the weekend with a ‘pay to play’ open invitation for members and the local community, with all funds being donated to Macmillan. And despite the weather we had a great response throughout the three days which raised a total of £750 for such a worthy charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.

A big  thank you to all members who generously supported the event to make it a great success.
