Guidelines for Coaching Activities

Updated: 25th July 2020

Whilst most COVID-19 restrictions have now been largely relaxed we're still very mindful of the safety of our coaching team and players. We are fortunate that tennis is a naturally socially distant activity and will continue to follow the LTA guidelines which can be found here: Coronavirus (COVID-19) - Latest advice 2021 | LTA

Before attending any tennis activity, players (including officials, volunteers and coaches) should self-assess for symptoms of COVID-19. Please visit the NHS website for full Symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) - NHS (www.nhs.uk). If you, or anyone you live with, have one or more of these symptoms you should not attend any sporting activity, even if your symptoms are mild. You should follow NHS guidance on testing and self-isolation. If you have been informed that you need to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace (or are required to self-isolate in relation to travel), you must do so. You should not leave your isolation location in order to participate in sport and physical activity.

In addition, the coaching team at Matchpoint Management will also be encouraging the following the guidelines below for their 1 to 1,  group coaching sessions and holiday camps.

- Participants will be encouraged to wash their hands or use hand sanitiser before and after the sessions

- Registration for all activities will be outside where possible

- If indoor facilities are used we will make sure the area is well venitlated and, where possible, participants will be seated.

- Participants will be encouraged not to share refreshments

- All activities must be pre-booked and paid for online via the club websites

- Players and coaches must follow any additional guidelines set out by the venue

If you have any questions at all please contact your coach directly or contact the Programme Administrator Jen Lewis at jen@matchpointmgmt.co.uk

Please ensure you are familiar with the following guidelines which all our coaches will be following for their 1 to 1 & Group coaching sessions.

- Please wash your hands or use hand sanitiser before and after the sessions

- Players should not arrive early for their sessions and should ensure that they leave on time

- Before the coaching sessions begins, players should ensure they are at least 2m apart from one another off court and wait to be called onto court by the coach

- All coaches and participants in session should undergo a preattendance self-assessment for any COVID-19 symptoms using the information on the NHS website before leaving home

- At some clubs and for some groups sessions we may need to impliment one way systems on entering and exiting courts. Please follow these systems to ensure safety of players and coaches

- For group coaching, please ensure players bags are spaced out to allow social distancing during breaks

- When drills are being explained to players, coaches will ensure players are socially distant

- Players should be mindful of other participants and not to go for balls which take them close to others.

- If gates are closed before sessions please allow the coach to open them. It is advised that players shouldn’t touch any of the handles etc to minimise contact with any surfaces

- Coaches do not now need to use new or fresh tennis balls for each lesson

- Coaches and players will follow the LTA guidelines to maintain a safe environment to practice

- Coaches will make sure all courts are booked for 1 to 1s.

- Group coaching sessions will follow, as a minimum the LTA guidelines on ratios of players to coach..
