MEDBOURNE TENNIS CLUB SEPTEMBER 2017 NEWSLETTER

Another summer is almost over however tennis continues apace with new coaching programmes, American doubles tournaments and club mornings and evenings. There are also some good social activities coming up to look forward to over the autumn/winter months.

COACHING

Both adult and junior coaching have re-started, both the coaching programmes will run until mid October and we will let the membership know about future coaching sessions in due course. Please find full details on the website.

LEAGUE TENNIS

We have both men’s and ladies doubles teams entered in the Winter Leagues – if you wish to play and haven’t been contacted then please speak to either Jane Boulter or Helen Liggins

INTERNAL TENNIS

Disappointingly only seven entered the men’s American doubles tournament in spite of advertising it some time ago. The number was not viable and the event was cancelled.

The ladies American doubles tournament goes ahead on 6th October, there are still spaces left for this event so if you wish to play please contact Sue Gardiner.

Thursday club nights are still taking place, a new six week rota of committee members available on each club night will be on the notice board and website in the next week.

Members are asked to take care when locking the courts that there are not players still playing; this has actually happened and you cannot get out from within the locked courts.

FRIENDLY TENNIS MATCHES

We have our first mixed friendly on 1st October away to Market Harborough

More can be organised against other Clubs so if you are interested please let me know

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

The Chairman’s Music Evening on October 7th featuring Janette Monroe is sold out. I hope that she will be the first of many well known artists whom will perform for us.

The Fish and Chip Quiz on 17th November is sold out – 9 teams of 6 as per last year will compete and once again Richard will be coming from London to be our quizmaster

Thanks to everyone whom has supported both the above.

The website is regularly updated so all news and information is current.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS

We have six members this year but feel that the ideal number would be eight. Please let any of the committee members know if you are interested in joining the committee in 2018

Finally, with winter approaching please be careful when you play and remember to clear rubbish and lock up when you finish, making sure there is no one still on the courts.
