Friday 22 November –  Club Presentation Evening

The first ever Awards and Presentation Evening was held on Friday 22 November at Melbourne Sports Park. It was attended by 60 members, partners and friends.

It got off to a great start with an unexpected visit from Rotex (formerly the Rotary Club of Melbourne).  Kate Dumelow of Rotex presented Howard Cheshire with the Ray Gill Award for ‘Contribution to Youth Sport’ in Melbourne. As Howard was unable to attend the event our Chairman, Tim Shone, received the award on his behalf. Congratulations to Howard on winning this special award.

After enjoying a delicious dinner, trophies and medals were presented to the winners and runners-up of the club’s senior competition which ran from July to October, with some finals being played in November due to the inclement weather!

Ladies Singles: Winner Lesley Heath; Runner-Up Pam Oliver

Ladies Doubles: Winner Karen Brenchley & Julie Chamberlain; Runner-Up Pam Oliver & Pat Milham

Men’s Singles: Winner Si Brenchley; Runner-Up Jesse Goscombe

Men’s Doubles: Winner Rob Clarke & Si Brenchley; Runner-Up Rob Heldreich & Andy Fleming

Mixed Doubles: Winner Si and Karen Brenchley; Runner-Up Sallie Allen and Phil Wilcock

The evening finished with a disco and members, partners and friends danced the night away. It was a wonderful evening and thanks to everyone (MSP, Fine Cuisine of Ashby and Jay Frantic) who helped to make it a night to remember.

The club will be holding a Christmas Party on 8 December for junior members at which there will be an awards presentation and a visit from Santa Claus.
