Merthyr Tydfil LTC is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk who engage in all tennis activities. 

Whether you/your child are engaging in coaching, matches or other organised events, we will strive to keep children, young people and adults at risk safe and free from harm.

Jon Amos is the Welfare Officer for Merthyr Tydfil LTC and is available to discuss any concerns or worries you may have - 07745 097839 or  jonamos@sky.com.

Jon has been a valued team member of the mens first team for the last 3 years and brings a wealth of experience with him and is ideally suited for this type of role.

Jon was previously the welfare officer for local football team Llwydcoed AFC where he did a great job and is a very approachable member of the club regularly attending making him a known face around the club ideal for the welfare officer role. 

Jon assures us that "Members who wish to raise a matter of concern may do so knowing that I shall deal with it sensitively, confidentially, discreetly and with honesty of purpose .

Nothing is more important to the LTA than the safety and wellbeing of those involved in our sport. This campaign is aimed at ensuring everyone in tennis is able to keep children and themselves safe from harm. The video's on these pages are based on real life scenarios and aimed to support you in preventing and identifying abuse in sport.

CHILDREN AT RISK

If you are worried about the safety or welfare of a child or young person under the age of 18 then you must report it immediately. If the child/young person is being harmed right now, then you need to call the Police on 999.

If the situation is less urgent but you are concerned that a child or young person is at risk of being harmed, maybe, you are worried they are being hurt physically or you feel that the care they are having is not keeping them safe, then you need to contact Children’s Services on 01685 725000.

If you are a member of the public, you can remain anonymous. Professionals do not have the right to remain anonymous and under the law they have a duty to report any concerns they have about a child or young person’s safety or welfare.

If you are in any doubt about reporting your concerns don’t think ‘What if I’m wrong?’, think ‘What if I’m right?’.

ADULTS AT RISK

If you suspect an adult is at immediate risk of harm you need to call 999 and speak to the South Wales Police.

If you suspect that an adult is being harmed or is at risk of being harmed you have a duty to report it and you can do this by submitting a duty to report form or by contacting the agencies below.
