We had an amazing sign up this time, all six courts were in use from 10am until 1pm.

Steven prepped the members with the rules and the first round order of play and luckily two of our reserves stepped up at the last minute to fulfil non-attenders places, amazingly all the members including myself got to grasps with “” the Winners moving 1 court towards the carpark and losers moving 1 court towards the clubhouse””, we did lose Hayati a few times into the clubhouse for a cheeky chat with anyone who’d listen,( secretly I think Steven just wanted to see mayhem on the courts 😊)

apart from Lee who moved only from court 1 or court 6 throughout the whole time everyone managed to play with or against most other participants.

Steven loved being in charge with his whistle to start and stop play and I was in charge of the timer 😊.  Domenico was our top male winner and Jill was our top Female winner bagging a tidy sum of £25 each with the remaining £22 paying for 6 cans of new balls, of which Kathy has collected and will add to the social play box of balls.

In a slight change to the advertised itinerary we held the Wimbledon draw next, Jean and Catherine conducted a fair and smoothly run draw with quite a few pairs of tickets being drawn to members who were at the event.

After a lengthy battle with the BBQ Dom & Mark triumphally wheeled the completed BBQ into position and Mark got on the mammoth job ahead of him feeding approx. 50 people, Kathy did a great job of taking the hungry members orders and Hayati served up the salad and coleslaws and tried to tempt them with cakes crisps and fizzy drinks.

All in all I think everyone had a great time, once again a huge thank you to everyone who helped in one way or another without your continuous support we would definitely not have such a great Tennis club.
