Sadly, everyone is receiving lots of email & communications regarding the Covid19 infection & the impact it is having on everyone. Nothing is exempt from the knock on effects. First of all, we hope that you & your families are all well & remain so for the duration of this outbreak, however long it lasts.

This is an ever changing situation & over the past few days we have been seeking operational clarity from tennis' governing body in the UK, the LTA. Guidance on their website was updated late yesterday & can be found here.

The Board of MTC has reviewed the latest guidance & made the following decisions:

• Junior coaching & junior teams activities are suspended until further notice. Anyone who has booked the next block of junior coaching will receive a full refund.
• Adult Teams practice on Sunday morning is suspended until further notice. It is highly unlikely that any league matches will be taking place during April & we will keep everyone updated on this.
• Social Tennis sessions will continue but will be operated within advisory guidelines, i.e. maintain distance between players at all times; use hand sanitiser before & after (Russel, one of our members has kindly donated some to the Club, many thanks Russel); hand washing facilities are available in the Pavilion too; Social Tennis organisers should wipe down gate handles & keypads with suitable wipes; avoid hand to face contact; no social gatherings in the Pavilion at any time. It is not financially viable for the Club to provide new balls for every session nor is this seen as a practical inhibitor - better to hand sanitise regularly & avoid hand to face contact.
• Adult coaching sessions on Monday & Wednesday evenings will continue, though will be subject to the same advisory guidelines as above & also subject to cancellation if the numbers are too low.
• Kevin Duffy will still be offering 1-1 coaching sessions, again subject to advisory guidelines. Contact Kevin directly to arrange.

It is good that, as highlighted on the LTA link, tennis is one of the sports which can operate within current social distancing & health guidelines & we encourage all our members to continue playing, subject to practising these guidelines.

We will keep all members updated through the usual channels & we will continue to monitor Government & LTA advice, notifying you when things change.

Also, just a reminder that our AGM will take place on Wed 25th at 7pm via a group video call & the deadline for notifying your intended participation to secretary@mtc.scot is the end of today.
