This page provides up to date information as to how the coronavirus (Covid-19) and the latest government advice around it, relates to tennis activities with NTA and all those involved in coaching programmes. Please be aware that this is a fast moving situation and liable to change with very little notice.

The latest Government guidance and information regarding Covid-19 can be found via the following link:

NTA is in communication with the LTA (our governing body, who is liaising directly with Government) and other relevant organisations regarding the coronavirus. We are closely monitoring advice from the Government and the the LTA, to ensure we are right up to date with the latest guidance for our customers.

The Government have currently indicated that recreational exercise that takes place at a safe distance from others and in safe exercise environments is something that can continue during this period. This relates to tennis activity and there is currently no reason not to continue playing tennis as normal, providing sensible precautions are taken:

  1. Our number one priority is everyone's health and safety
  2. As tennis is a non-contact sport, the coaches will be keeping players rallying over the net as much as possible rather than giving close technical instruction
  3. Groups of players will not be brought together in close discussion
  4. Players and coaches are encouraged to spread out on as many courts that are available and make the court/pupil ratio low as possible
  5. Players will be encouraged to leave the court and go home as soon as the lesson/session is completed
  6. Where toilet facilities are available, players are encouraged to wash their hands before and after using any of the changing facilities
  7. We will minimise the use of clubhouses and other common areas – we have not banned this but have asked for people to support not using these areas
  8. There will be no handshaking or bodily contact
  9. If rackets are lent out – all players are to wash hands after play; all players to be encouraged to bring their own racket

We are monitoring the situation closely and we have an experienced team drawn from across all areas of the business who are speaking regularly to monitor developments and react accordingly. As is normal business practice, we are following the UK government guidelines and will adjust our response accordingly, and we will let you know if we make changes.
