After more than 4 years of hoping, planning, designing and waiting for planning approval our floodlights are finally up and running. On Thursday 29th August the lights were officially inaugurated by Robin Cooper, our clubchairman. We had a great turnout for the big turn on, with over 30 members attending.

Robin gave a short speach thanking everyone involved helping to make this project happen. Special thanks to Arthur Creswell for project planning, design and dealing with the suppliers, to Robin Cooper & Stephen Hemmings for negotiating & securing funding from various sources & to Marc Millar for organising and overseeing the installation. But it was a big team effort and many other members helped out in different ways. 

After a dramatic countdown, Arthur was given the honour of throwing the switch and all was revealed!  Several of the members then had a go at playing on the illuminated courts and everyone agreed that the lighting was very effective, although it may take a bit of getting used to. 

All in all, it was a very successful & enjoyable evening, washed down with some Prosecco & beer. Hopefully the courts will now get plenty of use in the evenings. We already have 2 prospective new members, who are joining because they can now play after work.
