With only 4 available players from the squad, the team picked itself and against a new team to the league, Haslingfield 1, it was always going to be a tough one.  As is the format of Vets, we start with 2 mens and 2 ladies games.  Di and Denise played really well against a very strong, first team vets pair from Haslingfield, losing 6-2, 6-2. Warren and Tim had an extremely close fought game, but lost both sets on tie breaks.  

Then it was time for the mixed.  Warren and Denise played their first pair and managed an honourable 6-1, 6-3 defeat. Tim and Di played the husband and wife second pair and Di played an absolute blinder, saving a bit of face for Needingworth and winning the two sets 6-4, 6-3.

So overall we went down 6-2, but, had Warren and Tim held their bottle and won the 2 tie-breaks, we would have got a draw, but it was a very friendly Valentine’s day fixture and a relaxed social in the pub afterwards.
