In anticipation of this year’s Junior Club Championships (see below) we thought we should let you know what else has been happening with the Juniors throughout the summer.
Derek and Stuart arranged four friendly matches with Hutton Rudby involving 24 players ranging from Y6 to Y12. The parents and players said it was a great success with very competitive and close matches but played fairly and in good spirit.
More matches are to be arranged with the possible inclusion of Yarm. All the players enjoyed the experience and are keen for more. A big thanks to Claire from Hutton Rudby for being such a great host!

We also entered an U16 Girls team in Division 1 of the Durham & Northumberland Summer League. They have ended up winning it with wins over Blaydon. The Northumberland Club and a walkover v Sunderland David Lloyd as they unfortunately couldn't get a team.
The team were Daciana, Briony, Aida and Charlotte. The same players also got Polam Hall School to the regional finals of the Schools Competition.

We held a 'Play Your Way To Wimbledon' tounament which was won by Briony who subsequently went on to the National Final at, yes, Wimbledon.

Katie Thompson, our 2021 Ladies Singles Champion, represented Durham & Cleveland in the Girls U18 Summer County Cup and has just flown to the USA to take up her four-year tennis scholarship at Minnesota University. We wish her luck, a wonderful experience for her.

Still happening and very busy are our Junior Leagues with 72 matches played to date. This year's summer camps were full and have resulted in a new Saturday course starting.

This year’s Junior Club Championships will be played on Saturday 14th September from 3pm and Sunday 15th September from 10am and then continue up to Finals Day on Saturday 5th October from 12 noon.
Further details and entry forms will be put up in the clubhouse during the first week in September.
