27 MAY – MENS B TEAM V MANNAMEAD(AWAY)

Stewart and Phil had an easy night, dropping only 5 games all night.  Joe and Steve had a temporary blip in one match but also won convincingly.    Final result 72-14.

24 MAY – MENS A TEAM V YELVERTON (HOME)

The A team had a great win over current second place Yelverton A; 2 matches going to deciding tie-breaks in the 3rd set, making it a long evening. 

Final score 59-41.

24 MAY – MIXED A TEAM V BOVEY TRACEY(AWAY)

Gill and Stewart had a marathon match against their 2nd pair, winning 7-6, 6-4, finishing way past 9 o’clock.  Margaret and Phil halved their match v the 2nd pair, but their first pair were too strong for both our pairs, final score 5-3.

24 MAY – MIXED B TEAM V AVON VALE(AWAY)

Clive and Jackie won two tie-break sets, but the home team were too strong for both pairs, winning the match 6-2; away team winning a consolation prize of some home made quiche.

19 MAY – MENS A TEAM V WHITEFORD ROAD (AWAY)

The A team introduced a B team pair, Stewart & Mark, to the dizzy heights of Division 3 and they managed to beat both home pairs easily.  Yuen and Jason only lost 5 games all night for a resounding 72-15 victory.

17 MAY – MENS B TEAM V TAVISTOCK (HOME)

Phil & Antony were in commanding form winning 6-1, 6-4 against the visiting first pair; and then 6-1, 6-0 in their second match.  Richard & Clive had a relatively easy match against their second pair winning 6-2,6-3, then had a tough first set against the visiting first pair losing 4-6, then turned the match around winning the second set 6-1. Final result a resounding 70-18 win.

11 MAY – MENS A TEAM V MANNAMEAD C (AWAY)

The home first pair were very strong, losing only 5 games all night.   Rob and his team had better fortune against the second pair, the final score was 59-31 to the home team.

10 MAY – MENS B TEAM V LOOE AT HOME

The B team’s first home match of the season started late due to an RTA in Cornwall.  Stewart & Martin had a tough match against their first pair, losing 3-6, 2-6, but wasted no time against the 2nd pair, winning 6-0, 6-2. Mark and Antony also had a tough match against their 1st pair, losing a close match 4-6, 5-6; but beat their 2nd pair 6-3,6-2, for a 50-43 final score.

3 MAY – MEN’S A TEAM V TAVISTOCK B AT NNTC

The first match of the season was played at home against a very able Tavistock B side.  They had been reinforced by 3 new players who provided strong opposition, and they won by 57 games to 44, despite valiant resistance from the home side.

4 MAY – MIXED A TEAM V CHURSTON A AT NNTC

The season started well in the new format of 4 mixed matches, as opposed to the old medley format.  We had a good win over our old rivals Churston A, with Laura and Joe winning all 4 sets.  Yuen and Gill were unable to finish their second match due to fading light.  Result -win 5.5 to 2.5

7 MAY – MIXED B TEAM V TOTNES B AT TOTNES

The B team had a tough start to the season, playing a strong Totnes side away.  Clive and Margaret had a close first set but were unable to sustain the same level and lost both matches. Steve and Kate had a difficult evening and also lost both matches; result 8-0 to Totnes.

8 MAY – MENS A TEAM V ST BUDEAUX AWAY

The B team had a phenomenal start to the season winning 72-6 at St Budeaux.  Phil Davis and Matt Thomas losing only one game in each match, and Joe and Clive only lost 4 games all night.  An outstanding night against a normally strong team.
