The 2017 schools tennis games for year 1 and 2 primary school children was held at Market Drayton Tennis Club on 22nd May 2017.

32 children took part representing local schools, Hinstock, Hodnet, Adderley, Norton in Hales and Moreton Say. It was a super hot day and the children matched this with their enthusiasm to learn the game. At the start of the event the children were mostly brand new to tennis but by the end of the event were serving, rallying and scoring. I organised the day and it was great to get feedback from everyone that all the children had a great time. 

Taking part and learning was the priority for the day. However, there was a winning team which was Hinstock A. Congratulations to them! It was great to see Harry Mellor, a member of the tennis club representing the winning team.

Each year we deliver this event and it is fantastic to see the children improve so quickly. All the children went home enthused about tennis with a flyer about our upcoming summer tennis camps. 

Our next event is the Key Stage 2 event on 14th June.
