Anyone for tennis? The new facilities are great!

Bury Council and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) have invested £600k into community tennis courts in public parks to encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to take part.

There will be a mix of free and paid-for options, alongside community taster and coaching sessions.

Collaborating with the social prescribing beacon service, mental health organisations and GP practices, Bury’s Live Well Service aims to encourage people to get out in their local park and move more.

Councillor Andrea Simpson, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “I’m delighted that, working with the LTA, we’ve been able to invest substantially in improving our sporting facilities for Bury residents.

“This is a great opportunity for people to take up the game, make new friends, feel a real part of their local community and get some fresh air in the surroundings of our many Green Flag parks.”

All players wishing to use the courts or find out more about tennis in a community park should register online at https://www.burytennis.co.uk
