The second quiz of the year was another resounding success with 70 competitors across nine teams taking part. The event raised £631.00 – a useful amount to put towards the Club’s depleted coffers following the resurfacing of the courts.

One of the teams was called The Tiger Turfers – led by the very ‘on-brand’ team leaders of Ann and Dave Wesson! Very apposite considering the event was run on the same day as the new courts were declared open for play.

The winning team – named ‘Viv’s Div’s – was the overall winner with a score of 91, a clear 3.5 points ahead of the second placed ‘Better than Padel’ team, a group of pickleballers from Delcott Tennis Club. Clare Smith’s team – the Unmagnificent Seven’ was beaten into third place by just 1.5 points.

Two teams crashed and burned on the exciting, final ‘wipeout round’ coming in seventh and ninth and Kim Bracey’s team brought up the rear!

Huge thanks go to Clare Smith and Ann Wesson for selling the raffle tickets, to those who donated raffle prizes, to Gavin for reconciling all the funds, to Martin Hogermeer for lending his amp/microphone and to Ann Wesson for booking the hall and providing support as always.

We’re aiming to run another quiz in late Winter/early Spring 2024 and hope that all the regulars who were otherwise engaged with fireworks parties, will be back to compete then!
