Please polish your brain cells and book a table at the OTC Quiz Night on the 28th April. This has been a hugely successful fundraiser for the club in the past and we are hoping for a strong turnout. This event will be open to members and non-members so please come along yourselves and spread the word locally. Anyone 16 + is welcome. It will be held at the Queen Victoria Hall and a fish and chip supper will be included in the ticket price. Tables of eight are priced at £100. Individual tickets are £12.50. Please contact us to reserve your table.
The Quorn Family Tennis Cup on Sat 6 May is an enormously popular annual event that allows families to play tennis in an informal, fun competition. This is a red ball competition where a child (born after 1 September 2006) plays with a family member (born before 31 August 1998). The overall winning pair on the day win tickets to a Quorn Family Tennis Cup Event during May and June at LTA grass court major events. Last year Eliza and Lou were lucky enough to go to Nottingham for the day and it was a fabulous day out with the opportunity to watch the professionals up close. Early bird tickets are available on https:// www.lta.org.uk/major-events/aegon-open-nottingham/tickets/ for anyone who may be interested in watching some amazing tennis without the Wimbledon crowds.
The Road to Wimbledon Challenge on Sunday 7th May is a 14U tournament that gives players the chance to qualify to compete on grass courts at Wimbledon. Winners go on to County Finals; and winners at County go onto play in
the National Finals at Wimbledon in August. A fantastic opportunity for our Juniors.
For Mini Tour and Camp info, please speak to Claude or one of the coaches directly.
The League needs you ... If you would like to take the plunge and get more involved in match play this coming season we are looking for volunteers to play as part of the East Northants League in men’s, ladies and mixed matches. Most matches will start at 6pm and all are welcome to get involved - we’ll do our best to get everyone a match or two. It’s a great way to improve matchplay and confidence. Please let Stephen or Claire know if you are interested to find out more.
The date of the next AGM is set for Tuesday 25th April @ 7pm and this will tie in with the Wimbledon draw. All are welcome.
Membership renewals will be due by the 1st May and more information will be sent out soon with the normal eary bird discounts on offer. We’d encourage prompt payment please and would ask that you please a/ wear your shoe tag and b/ don’t give out the new gate code to anyone. We unfortunately still feel that non- members are being allowed access to the courts and are going to be making a concerted effort - with your support - to stop this.
Please continue to help to keep the Club a safe environment for all. If we could ask that you:
1/ Lock up the Clubhouse and the Courts if you are the last on site - even in the middle of the day
2/ Sign in your guests and put payment in the box in the foyer
3/ Wear your shoe tag
4/ Don’t give out the gate code to anyone
5/ Drive slowly and with care in the carpark and similarly please encourage your children to use the path and not to play on the gravel area at any time
Any safeguarding or security concerns should be reported to a member of the Committee immediately.
We’re always keen to hear from new members. If you are an individual member looking to upgrade to family membership or a coaching member interested in playing socially or competitively as part of the club, please contact Stephen.
