Club Re-Opening

We are pleased to announce the reopening of Pensford Tennis Club from Wednesday 2 December. Details of the guidance from the LTA  on the tier system and how it affects outdoor tennis can be found here https://www.lta.org.uk/about-us/tennis-news/news-and-opinion/general-news/2020/march/coronavirus-covid-19---latest-advice/.

The main points that members need to be aware of are:

  • Singles and doubles can be played, including with people outside your household, but the Rule of Six applies. Social groups of more than 6 playing tennis must have pre-arranged fours who can mix among their four, but the fours cannot mix with other members of the group playing on other courts during the course of a session. Please do not arrive and leave together in groups of more than 6.
  • All coaching can resume on the same basis as before the latest lockdown so Pay & Play sessions, team practices and Cardio sessions will restart from 2 December. The coaches will also be available for private lessons for adults and juniors from this date. As previously advised by Michael in a recent email, the Junior Coaching Programme will restart on Thursday 7 January.
  • Please do not come to the club if you are experiencing any symptoms or Covid-19, have been instructed to self-isolate or must quarantine after travel. Please comply with social distancing, use the sanitiser and hand washing facilities available and do not socialise around the club before or after play. The clubhouse will remain closed except for access to the floodlight controls, first aid and the defibrillator so please bring all drinks with you. The coaches and committee members are permitted access to the clubhouse where necessary.
  • Spectators must be minimised so it is only permitted that one parent/carer per young junior remain if necessary and social distancing must be maintained.
  • Please always book courts before playing and add the names of all players to your booking on Clubspark, but remember to cancel court bookings if you are not going to use them. For any organised groups where courts are block-booked in advance the organiser should keep records of players for test and trace purposes for at least 21 days.
  • Guests are permitted to play at the club at any time. In advance of playing, please email pensfordguests@gmail.com and pay the relevant fee (£5 for adults aged 25 and over, £2.50 for under 25s) by bank transfer to The Pensford Tennis Club Limited 20-42-76 a/c 13148270. Information on guests is needed for test and trace and also for insurance purposes.
  • We await detailed LTA guidance regarding Thursday and Sunday social club play sessions and the Surrey league team matches but expect these to resume as before lockdown.

If you any queries please email memberhips@penfordtennisclub.org

We hope you all enjoy the resumption of tennis!
