A total of 20 junior players from Pershore Tennis Centre took part in the County Closed Championships and returned with a haul of trophies and prizes.

The team of players – many of whom enjoy the Club’s Futures Programme - competed in events from under 8 years to under 18 years in both singles and doubles matches.

Notable performances were the strong mini tennis section where Madeline Walsh and William Billings both made the semi-finals in the u8 girls and boys respectively, Alfie Mills won the u9 boys whilst Ben Stanley & Jack Bulbulia reached the semis in the same age group. Jack & George Kirkham won the u9 doubles. Caoimhe Guppy won the under 10 girls and with club mate Ruth Teale also won the u10 girls doubles. Caoimhe had a great day also coming runner up in the u12 girls and receiving the award for the best girl player in the county!

In the u14 boys, Max Hingley and Samuel Rayner reached the semi-finals and Max and his partner went on to win the u14 doubles. In the u16 boys’ event, Matthew Sime reached the semi-finals in the singles and also with his club mate Antony Fordham, the semis in the u16 doubles, as did Sean Randle and Jack Hingley.
