Jack Hingley qualifies for Pine Cliffs

PERSHORE Futures player, Jack Hingley, qualified for the Pine Cliffs 10th Annual tennis and golf Winner’s Cup Competition on 15th -16th February 2020. A report from his Dad, Paul:

L-R: Mikhail Gudimenko (who went on to win the competition beating Merlin Eisele from Switzerland 6-2 6-4 in the final) Head Coach Amadis Pereira Gudimenko and Jack Hingley.

Jack Hingley represented Pershore Tennis Club at this years Pine Cliff’s 10th Annual Tennis & Golf Winner’s Cup having won one of the qualifying tournaments in the summer season of 2019.

Jack joined an international array of tennis winners at both junior (U18’s) and senior levels taking place at the Annabel Croft Tennis Academy located at the Pine Cliff holiday resort Albufeira Portugal. The event took place in excellent weather with the sun shining and a very nice 20 degrees temperature a complete contrast to the weather back in the UK.

The event organisers assigned the seniors the use of the three hard courts with the juniors taking the two clay courts to compete on. Jack had a bye in the first round as his opponent did not make the start due to travel issues.

The second round Jack played Lea Holmlund from Stockholm, Sweden a very useful under 14’s player who certainly gave Jack a very good match which the score line didn’t reflect with Jack winning 6-0 6-0.

The Semi Final round Jack faced Mikhail Gudimenko, a Russian player based out of Switzerland, and this match attracted a sizable crowd, with no quarter given,  who weren’t disappointed with the quality of tennis from both players but unfortunately Jack’s tournament came to an end as he lost 6-3 6-3 but won applause for his efforts.

Well done Jack! Go Pershore!"
