As seen in the local press, we've been lucky enough to be awarded a grant from Persimmon Homes! Special thanks go to Pamela Collins for all of her hard work and determination.
Here's what Persimmon had to say:
Pershore Tennis Centre has been served up a treat, thanks to a leading housebuilder’s funding boost.
The centre was awarded the money via the housebuilder’s Community Champions initiative, where charities and groups can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000.
Pershore Tennis Centre has more than 400 members and welcomes players of all ages and abilities. The centre was voted Herefordshire and Worcester LTA’s ‘Club on the Year’ last year.
Sarah McCormick, from the centre, said:
“We are delighted to receive such a kind donation from Persimmon Homes, and can’t thank them enough for their support.
“Our focus is introducing more people to the game and strengthening our junior tennis programme.
“The donation will help towards our £30,000 fundraising target to enable us to upgrade our outdoor courts. Members will be able to choose from five outdoor and three indoor courts, meaning tennis at the centre is an all-weather, all-year round sport.”
Carol Selway, Sales Director for Persimmon Homes South Midlands, said:
“We are thrilled to name Pershore Tennis Centre as our Community Champion.
“Local sports clubs provide a focus for the community spirit and help to encourage healthy active lifestyles, and therefore we are proud to support them.
“It is important to support causes close to where we are development, and our Wyre Meadows development is just down the road. We hope our new residents will be able to take advantage of the club facilities.”
Community groups, charities and good causes across the country have benefited thanks to the donations from Persimmon Homes.
Organisations are encouraged to apply for funding by completing a simple online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.
