Pershore Tennis Centre host Regional LTA Tennis Event 2023

Following on from last year’s success, Pershore Tennis Centre hosted the LTA’s sanctioned Learning Disability Regional Tournament on the 1st and 2nd April 2023.

33 adult players from all over the UK came to Pershore Tennis Centre to compete over two days completing 59 matches.

It was the 2nd time Pershore Tennis Centre has hosted the event which included some of the GB’s top Learning Disability players, including the world number 1 women’s player Anna McBride.

The winner of the Yellow Ball singles Division 1 was Oliver Beadle from Essex who is currently ranked inside the top 5 men’s learning disability players in the world.

There was also local success from Pershore Tennis Centre players Anthony Palmer who had a top 3 placing in the Orange Ball Singles Division.

Pershore’s Head Coach Steve Bauer and tournament organiser said: “It was great to see so many familiar faces from last year. We are grateful to the LTA for giving Pershore Tennis Centre the opportunity to put on this event again. This year the LTA were able to provide us with 17 LTA officials to umpire the matches which made the event even more special for the players and spectators. We also had an amazing team of volunteers from Pershore Tennis Centre who were able to support the players on and off the court to make this another top-class event that many will be back for next year. Pershore’s Regional Learning Disability Tournament was a fine example of how we can bring people together to celebrate tennis success at all levels.”

LTA Referee Steven Pilcher, who ran the tournament, said “It was a pleasure to run the tournament at Pershore again this year. The support from the LTA officials and club members makes such a difference and we know how much the players enjoyed themselves.”

Pershore Tennis Centre aim to host the event again in 2024.
