Court Availability

This year has seen a high number of active members participating in social, tournament and summer league tennis which has created excellent levels of positive energy at the club and an enthusiasm to continue group activities into the winter period. This naturally poses some challenges regarding court time to satisfy the ambitions of all members and coaches.  This matter has been discussed by the club committee and the following arrangements have been endorsed for immediate implementation.

Non exclusion Principle - fitting around official club events, club members may turn up to play at any time on any day (as per membership type). If all courts are in use, players on court must check if there are people in the clubhouse waiting to play and, if there are, restrict their time on court to a short set (first to 5 games). Waiting players may then go onto court, observing the same rule regarding waiting players. Singles play should only start if no-one is left waiting in the clubhouse.

The official club events are: league trials and matches, club advertised events, coaching sessions, club social sessions and roll-up sessions. Club members are only required to make way for these particular events. A number of informal groups do also use the courts at particular times but these activities are subject to the non exclusion principle above.

Monday Evening – Official coaching takes place in the early evening.  Informal -  men of team A to D standard share the use of courts 4-6 and men of team E to H standard meet and share the use of courts 1-3; the non exclusion principle applies.

Tuesday Evening – Official - Beginner To Player (B2P) groups will use all six courts from 7:30 to 8:30. Two courts will be allocated for coaching sessions up to 7:30. Informal - Ladies team players share the use of up to 4 courts; the non exclusion principle applies.

Wednesday Social evening – Official - all courts from 6:30 will be used for the weekly mix-in social tennis with the last Wednesday each month being a managed Roll-up tournament evening.

Thursday evening - Official - Mixed league teams will use 2 courts from 6:00 pm. The coaches will use several courts to 8:30. The odd court may be free for members (check with coaches).

Friday evening -.  Official - A mix-in social session takes place from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, otherwise there are free courts afterwards.

Saturday - Official several courts are used for junior league play, during the morning in particular, otherwise all courts are available to members.

Sunday - Official - there is a mix-in social session from 10:00 to 12:30, otherwise all courts are available to members.
