PTC takes on the United States ...... (of Jersey!)

A magnificent eight from PTC took on the might of the Crown dependency of Jersey over the weekend of 9th and 10th of September. To be fair, the squad enjoyed more success coping with the fine cuisine and wine in the St Helier restaurants than notching up on court victories against the Caesarean Tennis club.  See photos here.

The Caesarean (Roman name for Jersey) Tennis club is 150 years old this year and the club could not have been more welcoming and hospitable to us. We were treated to top class facilities, challenging tennis from some very capable opposition and excellent company over a fine lunch in the marvellous club-house. A huge thank-you to the club and in particular to Jayne Van Neste for overseeing and also playing in the event. The presence of indoor courts meant that we were able to continue playing when the weather threw a few squals into the mix. The club very kindly presented us with a trophy to commemorate the event which we will Treasure and display in our club-house.

The super fit Pewsey squad comprised Mike Cox (captain and tour manager extraordinaire), Peter Rose (former Pewsey man and returning to tennis after long knee injury induced layoff!), Keith (back injury, can you tie my laces please) Hampson, Amanda (tennis elbow's not going to stop me) Hampson, Quentin Dunstan (I need to follow through more but my arm might fall off), Philomena (let's volley everything) Plunkett, Terance (ambidextrous man of steel) Dixon and Guy (I didn't get any sleep) Dixon.  Quentin has since vowed to take up bowls and Philomena is probably still on Jersey trying to find the hotel that hid from her on Saturday. We were also blessed to have with us our very own (and Mike's) Jersey girl Narinder to show us all the best sights and Tracy Rose to keep the party swinging.

We are now taking suggestions for future tours!
