Following on from last month’s entry, I can report that we have won another award. During the winter, we entered 2 teams in the Sunday Indoor League. Our 1st team were in Division 2 and won all 7 of their matches. The prize was the trophy plus 4 magnums of champagne. Ok, they were bottles of prosecco but hey, Wimbledon this ain’t! Our 2nd team finished a creditable 3rd out of 8 teams.
Also throughout the winter season, we held a club competition, based on attendance and games won. To encourage participation we were offering the sort of prizes that would bring untold joy & happiness. The £100 was, therefore, split 4 ways. I, maybe, over egged the pudding a little bit on that one!
It was a piece of cake for the winner Jules, our own Mary Berry, who received £40, Second was Elliott with £30, third Simon C with £20 & finally Denise with £10. All winnings to be deducted from the summer subscriptions ( we’re no mugs!).
Our first summer league  match was a 1st Mens held on Sunday 13th April. We were at home to a team from North Notts but found them very strong and
lost 4 sets to 8. Special mention here for Chris and Craig who won 3 out of their 4 sets.
Team, don’t fRET FOR Defeat is just a step closer to your next victory ( I obviously pinched that last bit from somewhere but can’t remember where!) A PUNy effort I know.
