On Saturday 19th July we had planned to hold a social event, playing pétanque up at the Leisure Centre. Unfortunately, we had to call it off, due to the weather, which was very frustrating bearing in mind the good summer we’re having.
On Saturday 26th July the ladies held a round robin tournament, to determine which players would go through to Finals night, in September. After a hard fought competition the successful four were Ellie, Angela, Vicki and Denise. Special mention goes to twinkle toes Vicki (dance teacher) who sashayed across the court, to reach the finals, in what was I think her first tournament. 
The mens doubles qualifying competition, is to be held on Monday 18th August ( after this issue deadline). There will be another cameo appearance from yours truly, if we can find someone willing to make the ultimate sacrifice & partner me!
It’s now time to look away if you’ve got a low boredom threshold, as its results time.
On Sunday 20th July, the Ladies were at home to Farnsfield losing 3 sets to 9. It was a very wet day & Vicki made her Ist match appearance.
On Wednesday 23rd July, the Ladies were at home to Southwell winning 11-1.
On Friday 25th July, the Mens 2nd were home to Lakeside losing 1-11.
Rob & Darren got the only set, thus saving us from a Eurovision nil points!
On Sunday 27th July, the Mixed 1st were home to Farnsfield and won a tight match 7-5. Eddie & Ali won 3 out of their 4 sets.
On Friday 1st August, the Mens 2nd were away at West Bridgford and drew 6-6. David & Rick also won 3 out of their 4 sets.
Next month we are busy with matches, the BBQ & Finals night and also the Clabburn Trophy. These results will be in next months edition.
