Report:  RLTC Men's 2nd Team v Leatherhead 2nds - MATCH DRAWN 2:2

Last Sunday, RLTC2's 1st pair Iain Ure & Scott Shields set out with determination on the unfamiliar artificial clay surface against the Leatherhead 2nd pair. Our pair served clinically and proved too strong for the opposition, winning 6-2, 6-3. In their second rubber, Iain & Scott broke at the sharp end of the first set, taking it 7-5; the second set followed a similar pattern and despite Scott taking a tumble stretching for a volley the pair won 7-5, 6-4.  

Our 2nd pair - Kisanga Devendra (nursing a shoulder injury) & Laurent Schauder (on debut!) - took a while to adjust to the new surface and the tactical play of the Leatherhead 1st pair. Despite multiple deuces they could not breakthrough, losing 2-6, 0-6.  In their second tie, they found more success but lost a closely-fought first in the tie-break, and from there the momentum was against them, eventually losing 6-7, 2-6.
