Courts re-opened after resurfacing

The courts reopened after resurfacing on 1 September, but we have to wait a few weeks before the coloured top-coat can be applied.  We hope this will be in the last week of September and will mean that the courts will be closed for three days. Members will be notified of the details.

In the meantime, play can resume on the black asphalt but please note the following temporary caveats:

  • If temperatures exceed 30C, please do not play after midday as there could be a small risk of the tarmac softening in areas until colour coated.
  • If it rains, the oils and water may pool a little but that is normal (called surface tension) and the water soon releases.
  • you may prefer to use older balls because they will blacken quite quickly
