UPDATE (23/09/2021): Recolouring finished. Courts will be open from Sunday 26th September.
UPDATE (18/09/2021):
Recolouring of the courts is scheduled to start on Wednesday 22nd September. This is expected to take 2-3 days, with a further day required to let the paint cure. As noted earlier, this stage is very weather dependent and therefore subject to change at the last moment.
At the moment we don't know if play will be possible whilst this work is being carried out. Therefore, all courts will be closed for 4 days from Wed 22nd to Sat 25th September inclusive. Of course, if we are able to open the courts for some play during this time then we will.
Thanks again for your patience. Fingers crossed for good weather!
UPDATE (14/09/2021):
Court cleaning has finished. All four courts will be open from Wednesday 15th September. Weather permitting, the courts will be recoloured w/c 20th September. This will require further court closures - dates to be advised shortly.
We're doing some mainentance in order to keep the courts in the best possible condition for our members and the community.
All four courts will be closed initially from Monday 13th to Friday 17th September (inclusive). We hope to be able to reopen some of the courts before Friday 17th (if it's safe to do so). Further court closures will be required w/c 20th September.
Court cleaning w/c 13th September. This helps to make the courts safe to use over autumn and winter by removing moss and other debris from the court surface. Courts 3 and 4 will be cleaned first, followed by courts 1 and 2.
Best case scenario:
- All four courts closed Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th September.
- Courts 3 and 4 open from Wednesday 15th September, courts 1 and 2 remain closed.
- All four courts open from Saturday 18th September.
Court recolouring w/c 20th September. This should give us "new" courts again and helps to protects the surface. We're also required by our lease to do this every 6 years (last done in 2014). This is very weather dependent - if it's wet or it's too cold (with dew in the morning) then it won't go ahead and we may have to look at doing it next spring. If it does go ahead then hopefully it will take no more than 1 week.
Moss treatment (TBC). This (like court cleaning) helps to make the courts safe to use over autumn and winter.
We'll provide members with regular updates on progress and when the courts are available to use again. Apologies in advance for the disruption.
