Competitive tennis update

The winter weather may have arrived but we still have a thriving competitive scene at the club across both our juniors and seniors.

This season, Romsey Tennis has five adult teams competing in the Winter leagues. These are 1 ladies, 1 men’s and 3 mixed teams.

The men’s team have already completed 3 fixtures, unfortunately conceding against Knightwood, losing 7-2 to a very strong Lyndhurst team away, before bouncing back with a comfortable home win against Bassett D, 6-3.

The ladies team have played one match due to the challenging recent weather, a narrow 5-4 loss to Totton B. The second match of the season will take place on the 24th of November away at Waterside.

The mixed A team have had two matches postponed due to bad weather and a win against David Lloyd Southampton. The mixed B team have played two and have had one draw against Compton C away and an excellent 3-1 home win against Lyndhurst. The next match is away at Warsash on the 1st December.

Our head coach Mihaly has entered two junior club teams into the Hants and IOW league, one mini-red and one mini-orange. Dates for these matches have not yet been set although they are expected to be played at a central venue.

We also have several youth players competing individually from the club on a regular basis. Notably Harry Black who won his first mini-red tournament recently and also Owen Martel who won the G3 regional U16s double event in Sutton over half term and the men’s G5 and G4 singles events played at High Wycombe, Bucks.

We are always on the look-out for more competitive players, both junior and senior so please get in touch if you're interested!
