On Thursday 21st July the Ross Ladies A team were ready for a bash. It was a warm evening which meant it did not take long to work up a sweat against the MCS team from Malvern.
Ross first pair Manda Kiernan and Wendy Badham lost the first rubber after a match tie-break, the opposition went aerial with lots of frustrating lobs. However, in their second match they were hot to trot and took the tiebreak.
The second pair came through a tricky first match with some excellent serving from Jane Pepperell which got them out of the woods. Val Davies’ through the eye of a needle volleys made short work of the MCS first pair in the second rubber.
The Ross third couple played valiantly, with Sandy Foulkes coming back from illness to drop only five games in the first rubber. Hayley Jackson varied her game alternating hard smashes with volleys plopped just over the net to win their match against the third pair.
So a 5-1 win by the Ross team was celebrated with a delicious tea and conversation with the MCS ladies, and topped off with some bubbly. Well done ladies!
