Rothbury LTC enters teams into the Northumberland and Durham Inter-Club Lawn Tennis League each year with matches being played between April and the end of September. There are usually 7 teams in each league with 6 matches to contest per team per season either at home or away. At the end of the season the top one or two teams in each league are promoted to a higher league, and the bottom one or two moved to the league below.
This is competitive tennis but always played in an enjoyable and friendly manner and followed by an excellent tea hosted by the home team.
The team captains are always looking out for new players and anyone interested in playing can contact the appropriate team captain from the list below the team update. Rothbury is situated in the North of the area covered by this League so players tend to share transport to get to most away matches .
A list of matches for the year can be found on the noticeboard in the clubhouse or by clicking on the relevant team above. The home matches have been added to the club calendar, see "Booking" section on the website.
The format of matches is:
Vets (Men over 45 and Women over 40) - 2 couples making up the team with both playing both opposing couples ie 4 sets with a tie-break played at 5-5 in both sets.
