Newsletter September 2023

First of all, my apologies for this newsletter coming so late in the summer but I hope you have been taking advantage of the great weather over the last week or so.

Tennis – courts have not been too busy over the summer but it has been great to see everyone playing their Club Championships over the last few weeks.

1. Club Championship – Games have been taking place over the last few weeks with some great games to watch. Finals Day this coming Sunday (17th), i hope you are coming to watch some great tennis and take advantage of the BBQ going from about 12 noon.
2. Coaching – Kids coaching is continuing and a new block for the adults will start next week – see website for details.
3. Schools tennis – we will be using some of the Tesco funding to take Stephen into Aviemore Primary School on Thursdays to show P3 a bit about tennis, this is before Christmas and P2/3 class after Christmas
4. Tennis Scotland – are doing an article on our club so watch out for it called ‘Club Spotlight’ and if anyone has any interesting stories to add please let me know.

Fundraising

1. Tesco tokens have been going well and finish at the end of September so remember to ask at checkout for the tokens and fill it up!  We are guaranteed £500 but could be £1000 or £1500 depending on the number of token in our slot!

1. Harleys – We had great support with donations of bottles and helpers on the day LJ, Jenny, Fiona C, Margaret and Jo and raised £798.36 + late donation of £10
2. Frock Swap – in November – more details later
3. Club Clothing – We are looking at new club clothing and Jenny and Eve have been designated.

Doors Open Day – this is when the club open our doors and courts to anyone to come and have a look or have a try at tennis.  Club coach Stephen will be on hand to assist.  We will have our usual American Tournament and BBQ from 11 – open to anyone

Racket Demo – We have Sam from Bassline coming to give us a racket demo day – Sunday 1st October – 9.30 to 12.  If you can let me know if you would like to come to that it would be helpful

Dates for your diary

1. Sunday 17th September – Club Championship finals from 10am
2. Sunday 24th September – Doors Open Day from 10am until 1.30
3. Sunday 1st October – Racket Demo day – 9.30 to 12 – need numbers for this please
4. Monday 16th October – Kids camp Monday to Thursday – see website  for details, on soon
5. Sunday 29th October – American Tournament & BBQ – maybe the last one of the year – weather permitting
6. Friday 17th November – Frock Swap
