News - February 2019

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well and not getting too frustrated by the recent weather!

Vacant Committee Postions

As always there will be a number of positions on our committee that become vacant. The folllowing positions are open:

Head groundsman - the only paid position at the club you will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the grounds and clubhouse and liaising with any outside contractors we may from time to time need.

Men's Captain: Incredibly for the first time in a few years we have someone come forward for this.

Junior Representative: We also have an applicant for this!

Membership Secretary: This is a key role and comes with the offer of free membership. You will be responsible for using Clubspark to monitor membership renewals and payments and for answering emails generated from the website from potential new members. I've done this for the last year and with Clubspark it is really easy. Full training will be given and it's a really satisfying role.

If you would like further info on any of the positions listed above, please do get in touch.

Steph's Funeral

Thanks to everyone who contacted me asking for more details last time out. The details have now been confirmed and the service will take place at Lawnswood Crematorium on 4th February at 3pm. If you would like to attend please do so but the family have requested that in lieu of flowers to please make a donaton to St Gemma's Hospice. I'm pleased to confirm that the club made a sizeable donation in Steph's memory and we received a very nice acknowledgement from St Gemma's. If you can't make the funeral but would still like to make a donation, you can do so here

Unfortunately I'm away for the next week so I can't attend but I know there will be a large tennis club contingent there so I hope you all give Steph a good send off and it all goes as well as these occasions can.

Coaching Update

Following on from our announcement a couple of weeks ago, Paul has been hard at work on a number of things. There's an advert live on the LTA website for a level 3 coach to work alongside Paul here:

He's also been arranging "meet and greet" sessions for everyone and these can be accessed here:

New Website!

You may have noticed that we have a new website at www.roundhaytennis.org.uk

Great thanks to Rosie Nicholl who has done an incredible amount of work over the last year for the club who designed and published it. The old site needed a refresh and I think the new site looks great and will serve us well for a long time to come. If you see Rosie please say "thanks" to her - as well as being a very supportive Vice President to me, Rosie is also our Welfare Officer which as you can imagine is a very responsible job.  Not only that but Rosie also helps run the Barkston Ash Mixed League in which we field 3 teams.

Curry and Quiz Night...Last chance

There is still limited space for this great social event on 16th February. Contact Camala for tickets or more details, 07910778880.

AGM

Our Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday 18th March at 8pm. I'll be sending out the full review of the past year in the next few weeks.

Thanks again for all your support. If you have any questions or comments on anything about the club (apart from tennis balls) please do not hesitate to contact me. harperrltc@hotmail.co.uk or 07796267505.

Cheers, Chris
